Postdoctoral Position(s) / Research Associate
The
Department of Gastroenterology (Prof. dr. G. Boeckxstaens) is inviting
applications from highly motivated and experienced molecular biologists /
biochemist / bioengineer with an immunological background for research in mucosal
immunology and pathophysiology of gastrointestinal diseases.
Our
research group focuses on the neuro-immune interaction between the autonomic
innervation and the innate immune system (macrophages / dentritic cells / mast
cells) of the gastrointestinal tract in health and disease. Identification of
celtypes, neurotransmitters, receptors and signal transduction pathways
involved are studied applying a broad spectrum of models (in vitro / in vivo)
and techniques in order to identify new targets for treatment. As part of the
clinical gastroenterological unit, a close interaction with clinicians
guarantees access to patient material and fast translation of new findings to
the clinic.
Applicants
should have completed a PhD in immunology, preferentially on macrophage or mast
cell physiology. They should have extensive experience with cell (co-)cultures,
cell sorting, molecular biology methods, cell biological (signal transduction)
techniques and have experience in assay development.
Full applications
including curriculum vitae, list of publications and references should be sent
to Prof.dr. G. Boeckxstaens (Guy.Boeckstaens@med.kuleuven.be),
before December 31st.
