Postdoctoral Position(s) / Research Associate
The
Department of Gastroenterology (Prof. dr. G.
Boeckxstaens) is inviting applications from highly motivated and experienced
biologists / bioengineer for research in gastrointestinal inflammation and
visceral pain.
Our
research group focuses on the pathophysiology of gastrointestinal diseases like
postoperative ileus, functional bowel disorders (functional dyspepsia /
irritable bowel syndrome) and inflammatory bowel disease. Using several animal
models (intestinal inflammation, visceral pain) and different in vitro
techniques (electrophysiology, afferent nerve recording, mucosal permeability
assays, co-cultures) mechanisms of disease are
unravelled in order to identify new targets for treatment. As part of the
clinical gastroenterological unit, a close interaction with clinicians
guarantees access to patient material and fast translation of new findings to
the clinic.
Applicants
should have completed a PhD in neurogastroenterology
/ pain physiology / neurophysiology. They should have extensive experience with
in vivo small animal models, afferent nerve recording (or willing to learn it)
and have experience in animal model development.
Full
applications including curriculum vitae, list of publications and references
should be sent to Prof.dr. G. Boeckxstaens (Guy.Boeckstaens@med.kuleuven.be),
before December 31st.
