Madison, Wisconsin.
November 11-14, 2001 (Sunday noon till Wednesday
evening).
The 18th
Symposium was held with two months delay due to terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
All those present are grateful to Dr.S.Sarna and his team for organizing a very
successful meeting, and this despite the unfortunate circumstances. Although
there was some interference from the Neuroscience meeting held at the same time in San
Diego, most of those who originally planned to attend were able to reschedule their
agenda. Besides an excellent scientific program, the social program allowed the
participants to appreciate why Madison is considered to be one of the nicest places to
live in the USA.
The Organizing team, especially Maxine and all the members of the Weber
family, must be congratulated for a job well done.
At the General Assembly it was agreed to expand the International Steering
Committee with an additional member from "the rest of the world". The
retiring members M.Camilleri, D.Grundy and J.Malagelada were replaced by T.Shea-Donohue,
J.Fioramonti and M.Schemann. Dr.J.Malagelada will stay on the committee however for an
additional period of two years, as organizer of the next meeting. As additonal
member Dr.P.Kim from Korea was elected.
