YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD.

Participants younger than 33 years on September 14, 1999 and who are first author of an abstract, were eligible for an award. A total of 82 abstracts were submitted for an award, and 54 of them   (65%) were accepted. The acceptance rate was therefore higher than the overall acceptance rate (57%).

The 20 abstracts with the highest score receive an award. The award includes free registration, at least 50% of the lowest cost economy class travel and part of the hotel costs. Award winners have been notified by mail.

FOURTH JANSSEN RESEARCH AWARD.

Nominations for this prestigious award closed on March 15, 1999.   Applications were discussed during the meeting of the International Steering Committee on Sunday May 16, 1999 in Orlando during DDW. A decision was reached on june 1 by secret ballot. The award will be presented in Bruges during an academic session in the Gothic Room of the Town Hall on September 15. The session will be followed by a reception offered by the City of Bruges. The exact timetable will be given in the final program of the meeting.
