first announcement.jpg (32621 bytes) Hans Memlinc is one of the most prominent members of the "Flemish Primitives", the name given to the school of painters based in Flanders in the 15th century. These two panels illustrate a classical theme of Christianity, the visit of the angel Gabriel to Mary, announcing her that she will become mother of Jesus.
