• Tuesday evening, September 14.
    Get-together-party. During this event there will be an occasion to visit part of the Memlinc Museum. Although the Museum is closed for renovations, a special tour will be organized for the Symposium by Dr.H.Lobelle, head conservator of the museum and author of numerous books on medieval history and art. Participants will be able to visit the sick rooms and the pharmacy of the medieval hospital.
    Tickets for this event are limited. A time slot will be allocated by the organizers.
  • Wednesday evening, September 15.
    The presentation of the Janssen Award in the Gothic Room of the Town Hall, will be followed by a reception offered by the City of Bruges, and a dinner in a cluster of local restaurants.
  • Thursday afternoon, September 16.
    "Discover Bruges", a search through the City, offering insights in the history of Bruges as well occasions to visit major sights, buy souvenirs or sip a beer.
    Starting with a boat trip on the canals, participants will search for their destination with the help of a 16th century map and some easy clues. Those who want to take a challenge, can try to solve a quiz, which should not pose a problem for attentive investigators. A valuable prize will be given to the winner. All participants who reach the final destination will receive a valuable souvenir.
  • Thursday evening, September 16.
    Concert in the City Theater.
    Patrick Peire will conduct the "Collegium Instrumental Brugiense", a prestigious ensemble recently proclaimed "Cultural Ambassador of Flanders". The ensemble will perform work from Mozart and Haydn, and the program will be introduced by Betty Mellaerts, presentator of cultural programs on national radio and TV.
    Registered participants will receive a ticket and should make a seat reservation. Reservation will open Wednesday morning at the Symposium Reception Desk.
