TRANSPORT AIRPORT- BRUGES.

On september 14, a hostess will be present in the arrival hall at the airport from 7.45am till 12.30pm. She will advice arriving participants about the quickest solution to reach Bruges. We have arranged for two  buses with a flexible schedule and will try to accommodate especially those arriving with transcontinental flights.

Bruges is easily reached by train. First take the special train connecting the airport with the railway station of Brussels (every 20 minutes), and then take the train to Bruges (every 30 minutes). Tickets can be bought at the airport and cost 470 BEF.  For an overview of trains see the schedule prepared by the Symposium Secretariat. Detailed information is available at the site ot the Airport.

A special bus will meet incoming trains in Bruges on Tuesday morning to transport participants to their hotel. Of course you can also take a taxi.

Note that in Bruges everything is within walking distance : the entire city can be crossed in 30 minutes, the main central area where the congress center is located, in 15 minutes. Traffic regulations discourage the use of a car, if not making it almost impossible. If you rent a car, it will be a nuisance during the meeting.

TRANSPORT BRUGES- AIRPORT.

There will only be one small bus for early birds leaving at 5.15am. A train schedule will be given to all participants when registering. Indeed the airport is easily and conveniently reached by train. The trip requires a change in Brussels.  The cost is 470 BEF.  General and detailed information is available at the site ot the Airport.

PASSPORTS AND VISA.

Participants from EEC countries may enter Belgium upon presentation of their identity card. Other participants need a passport, some in addition a visum. For details, participants should consult their travel agent or the nearest Belgian Consulate or diplomatic mission.

WEATHER.

The weather in Belgium is often unpredictable but always moderate. September usually offers comfortable fall weather (average day temperature 18°C, 66° F), which, with a bit of luck, turns into a local variation of an Indian summer. Be prepared though, and bring a sweater and an umbrella.
